Wreck of the Laboe

The wreck of the Laboe lies next to Moulia rocks in Paphos .The area has been declared as protected and no commercial fishing is allowed. The 21.5 metre Laboe was built in Rendburg shipyard, Germany, in 1940. It was brought to Cyprus to be used as a liveaboard diving vessel. In June 2014 it was sunk in the area of Moulia rocks as part of the artificial reefs and marine parks project. Maximum depth of this wreck, at the bow, is 28 metres.  The wreck is open throughout for easy penetration in the bridge, the saloon, and the engine room.

In anticipation of the 2017 festivities with regards to Paphos being the cultural capital of Europe, CYDIVE sunk a metal cage full of sealed wine bottles on the stern of the vessel.  They will be opened, in due time, in 2017.

The wreck has already attracted a variety of local sea life, along with 4 very large hermit crabs which appear to be permanent residents of the slab of concrete that holds the mooring chain.

We meet at our comfortable and well equipped diving centre where our friendly and helpful PADI professionals will begin with an interesting and informative dive briefing. Unless you have your own diving gear, all equipment is supplied by us. We spend a few minutes checking your sizes and will fit you with the suitable gear. All of our diving equipment is well maintained and serviced regularly to ensure your safety and comfort.

Once you have completed your dive you will be served complimentary fresh seasonal fruit and refreshments on the boat, before returning to our diving centre where our PADI professionals will debrief you and help you to complete your log books.

We provide free transfers from/to your hotel from all hotels in the Paphos area.
