GoPro- Instructor Development Course Package

This Instructor Development course package includes the extended IDC program including IDC prep, EFR instructor, OWSI and 5 specialty instructor rating as well as the Instructor Exam. Also included is the PADI IDC eLearning Product and the EFRI Digital Manual.

New in 2020, PADI released a more digital IDC program. Now all of the pre-study and academics are done online prior to starting the IDC. You will be able to work through the theory at your own pace as well as getting in touch with your course director whenever you need to. Our Course Director and Staff Instructors will offer you support and make sure that you are staying on track with all the academics. Additionally they will be on hand to help with preparation for the practical section of the course.

The IDC is made up of four parts – the Assistant Instructor (AI) course, the Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI) program, Emergency First Response Instructor (EFRI) and Master Scuba Diver Trainer (MSDT) preparation. You will complete all 4 courses alongside each other over the period of 15 days. The IDC teaches you to conduct all PADI core courses from Discover Scuba Diving to Divemaster. You’ll be able to organize and present information, conduct skill development sessions and control open water dives. The workshops will help you become a better public speaker and get really good at demonstrating skills while watching out for student diver safety.

Key topics include:

  • PADI Standards and Procedures for all courses in and out of the water
  • Learning, Instruction and the PADI System
  • Risk Management and Diver Safety
  • The Business of Diving and your role as an instructor
  • Marketing Diving and Sales Counselling

During the course you will be making presentations in front of the other IDC candidates, participating in skills workshops and simulated lessons.

Master Scuba Diver Trainer (MSDT) preparation involves completing 5 specialty instructor programs. There will be a group decision during the IDC preparation as to which specialties you would all like to complete.

During your EFRI training you will learn the best methods for teaching Emergency First Response and them adapt them so they work for you. You will cover Primary and Secondary care and Care for Children.
