The PADI Rescue Diver course teaches you techniques to avoid and manage problems and improve your confidence as a diver. During the course you’ll become a better buddy by enhancing your ability to identify potential problems and by practicing dive emergency protocol. The subject is serious but the training is fun – many divers tell us the PADI Rescue Diver course was their favourite!

PADI Rescue Diver eLearning

This course prepares you to deal with dive emergencies, minor and major, using a variety of techniques. Through knowledge development and rescue exercises, you learn what to look for and how to respond. You’ll learn how to think like a rescue diver and preview skills you’ll practice with your PADI Instructor. This tool box of knowledge and technique will give you the expertise to handle almost any emergency situation.

The Rescue course is done over three days where we will teach you ten rescue exercises before moving onto some really fun scenarios. The Rescue Diver training will prepare you to prevent problems and, if necessary, manage dive emergencies.

During the confined and open water sessions, you’ll cover:

  • Self-rescue and diver stress
  • Dive first aid
  • Swimming and non-swimming rescue techniques
  • Emergency management and equipment
  • Panicked diver response
  • Missing diver procedures
  • Surfacing the unconscious diver
  • In-water rescue breathing protocols
  • First aid procedures for pressure related accidents

Once you have completed these exercises we will give you two rescue scenarios to deal with in a real life setting. Practice makes perfect and we will be giving you lots of that.

All of the theory for the PADI Rescue course will be completed using the eLearning product. The PADI Rescue eLearning product allows you to learn from the comfort of your own home. Then once your finish join us for the in-water sections of the course.

Emergency First Response

Emergency First Response training focuses on building confidence in lay rescuers and increasing their willingness to respond when faced with a medical emergency. Course participants learn easy to follow steps for emergency care and practice applying skills in a non-stressful learning environment.

You will receive a self-study manual, which you can work through at your own pace and complete before starting the course. Within the course you will watch videos which break down the skills and enhance learning.

This section of the course is made of three topic areas: Primary care, Secondary care and CPR and AED use.

Primary Care (CPR) – This course teaches you the steps and techniques for handling life-threatening emergencies. You’ll practice nine skills for aiding patients who aren’t breathing and have no heartbeat. How to care for patients which may have a spinal injury, be in shock or have serious bleeding. You’ll learn to how to perform CPR and monitor the patient, so that you increase the chance of survival while waiting for emergency medical services to arrive.

Secondary Care (First Aid) – Many medical conditions are not life-threatening and emergency medical services are sometimes delayed or unavailable. Throughout this course you will learn how to provide first aid that eases pain and reduces the risk of further harm. You’ll learn to assess a variety of injuries and illnesses and practice bandaging and splinting.

CPR & AED – This course focuses on CPR training and teaching participants how to use an AED (automated external defibrillator). When workplace or governmental requirements specify this training, the CPR & AED course meets the need. This course is often integrated into First Aid at Work programs.
