PADI Search and Recovery

People accidentally drop things from docks, off boats or even while scuba diving. If you’ve ever lost something in the water and wanted to go find it, then the PADI Search and Recovery Diver Specialty course is for you.

There are effective ways to search for objects underwater that increase your chances of success. Learn about different search patterns and the test them out! Find out which search patterns work best for you and which one are most practical for the item your looking for. This specialty also gives you the opportunity to brush up on your navigation skills. Use a compass and natural navigation to help navigate the area and complete your search pattern.

Have a go a rigging a lift bag and trying some of the most common knots used in diving. These will help you to retrieve your object and bring it to the surface with success. You can find all the knots on the back of your Advanced Open Water slate.

During your course you will learn and practice:

  • Swimming search patterns using your compass and natural navigation.
  • Locating large and small objects using various search patterns.
  • Using a lift bag for large or heavy objects, plus other recovery methods.
  • Planning a search operation based on facts gathered about a lost object prior to the dive.

This course includes the PADI Search and Recovery Specialty eLearning and certification fees.

The PADI Search and Recovery Specialty pair perfectly with the PADI Rescue Diver course. Change out your object for a missing diver and put the information you have already learnt into practice!
